Task
The D Magazine directories are an extensive search tool for recommendations on professionals and businesses in the Dallas area.
Overview
D Magazine has been the go-to publisher for hyper-local recommendations for the North Texas area. The publication features comprehensive lists of the best doctors, lawyers, restaurants, and shops that Dallas has to offer as chosen by D Magazine editors. D Magazine wanted a way to present these comprehensive lists online in an easily searchable manner.
The Result
We created an online directory system that housed the comprehensive lists in different categories. The design and functionality of the directory system was updated to be faster and more intuitive so readers could quickly find what they were looking for. The directory system incorporated a list and map view so users could search by location or by tags. Each business or professional had personal listing pages that provided the user with more specific information like business hours, contact information, location, and any best lists they appeared on. The online listings also created an advertising opportunity for D Magazine by allowing professionals and businesses to purchase sponsorship packages to better promote their listing.
